Népliget Sports Complex

The Népliget Sports Complex is situated in the largest park of Budapest, in a 14-hectare area. The sports complex has fantastic characteristics and its outdoor courses and covered halls provide an unmatched opportunity for sports and recreation to both the professional athletes and the leisure time sportspeople.

Introduction

The construction of the Népliget Sports Complex mostly took place in the early and mid-1980s. The passageway for running was completed in 1983, the gymnasium and the old handball hallin 1984, the swimming pool and the hotel in 1985. The development continued in the second part of the 1990s. The new handball hall was opened in 1997, the grand football field with artificial turf in 1998 and the all-weather athletics track in 2000.

The sports complex is suitable to hold many sporting events even on international level (ball games, athletics, swimming, water polo, gymnastics, bowling), various events for schools and companies, as well as cultural and entertainment programs.

Directions

The Népliget Sports Complex is located in district X of Budapest.

Public transportation: bus No. 99 from Vajda Péter street, bus No. 9 and tram No. 28 or 62 from Kőbányai street.

The sports complex is accessible by car via Kismartoni street that is located inside the Népliget. Parking is available in the street.

The new handball hall can be reached by car from Kőbányai street.

Events

The Népliget Sports Complex and the Hotel FTC are available to host sports days, company and family events, conferences, and school proms.

Did you know?

The first 50 metre long competition pool with 10 lanes built in Hungary can be found in the swimming pool of the Népliget Sports Complex.

The Gyula Lázár field was Hungary’s first large football field with artificial turf.

Zoltán Magyar and János Sivadó were training in the facility preceding the gymnasium.

In 1999 a promenade was created in the sports complex in honour of the Olympic champions of the Ferencváros TC.

Hotel FTC:

The three star hotel with 62 rooms is an ideal place of accommodation for the training camps of sports clubs and federations. There is a conference room for 100 people located in the new wing of the hotel.

Competitive sport

The Népliget Sports Complex is suitable to hold many types of sporting competitions even on international level (ball games, athletics, swimming, water polo, gymnastics, bowling).

The sports complex is an ideal location for the training camps of sports clubs, national teams or individual athletes: accommodations, meals, training facilities are available.

Public services, leisure time sport

The small football fields with artificial turf and the tennis courts in the territory of the sports complex can be rented by anyone, the other sports facilities are only allowed to be used by licensed athletes.
